Mason Alexander were delighted to sponsor the CPD & BBQ Event last Thursday 29th September 2016 in the Hilton Hotel at Charlemont.

The event was hosted by the Society of Young Solicitors in conjunction with the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association young members committee.

The evening commenced at 6.30pm and we had speakers on the night covering two different topics.

The first was Larry Fenelon, who is the co-founder and managing partner of Leman Solicitors. Larry is Head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team and has specialised in Sports Law for more than a decade. Larry led a very interesting discussion in relation to “Sports and the Law”.

The second speaker, Nathan Reilly BL, is a barrister practicing at the Irish Bar. Nathan practices in the area of commercial litigation, professional negligence, judicial review and regulatory law with particular expertise in banking litigation. Nathan spoke about another relevant topic to practitioners; “The Consumer Defence in Banking Litigation”.

Once the speakers concluded, attendees were directed to the bar where there was a BBQ and complimentary drinks!

There was a great atmosphere as attendees relaxed and socialised for the rest of the evening. Rugby player Rob Kearney came along to the event also. As a board member of Mason Alexander, Rob is always happy to show his support.

As I mentioned on the night, I head up the legal recruitment division at Mason Alexander, assisting legal professionals when considering their options both in private practice and in-house.

The years post qualification are extremely important as it will often shape the career you will have. There is a lot going on in the Irish legal sector for lawyers at all levels at the moment and I would be happy to hear from anyone who might want to consider new opportunities. Further, if you would like a more general discussion on issues such as salary reviews and market rates, tips on CV formation or interview techniques or progression within your own career, you can contact me using the details below. Please note that any conversation with me will be in complete confidence.

I want to thank the Society of Young Solicitors and the DSBA young members committee for allowing us to sponsor such a great evening. I look forward to collaborating on more going forward!
